Kornati National Park: a day on open water

Kornati National Park is one of the strongest experiences on the Croatian Adriatic: pale stone islands, deep blue water, quiet bays and a feeling of open sea. The official park description lists 89 islands, islets and reefs inside the national park.

01

How to go

The easiest option is an organized boat trip. If pace, silence and flexibility matter, look for a private skipper. A valid national park ticket is required, so check the current rules and prices before departure.

02

What to bring

Bring sun protection, water, a hat, swimwear, towels, a light long-sleeved layer and a waterproof bag. Kornati is beautiful because it is open and raw, but there is less shade than on a classic beach.

03

Best mindset

Do not treat Kornati as a checklist. The point is the water, the stone, the space and the slow movement between bays. Leave enough time for swimming and simply being on the boat.
